This workshop will guide you in the making of your own inks as well as feather quills. The inks and quills can then be used in calligraphy and art projects to create interesting and personalised effects.
The ink making process involves crushing and heating oak galls, then adding differing ingredients to enable you to make two or three different inks to take home. To create quills you will be guided in the carving of the feathers and then shown how to cure them in hot sand. Along with your newly made inks and quills, you will take home a glass dip pen to vary your inks use.
Please be aware there may be ink splashes, you might want to bring along an apron.
