CONTEMPORARY STUMPWORK EMBROIDERY

Working with a wide range of materials like wire, stuffing, threads, beads and ribbon, learn how to create contemporary stumpwork, also known as raised embroidery. It is a versatile technique which lends itself to telling a story in stitch, using three dimensional elements. Stumpwork has many imaginative and creative possibilities, and there will be lots of inspiration close by with the ‘Heritage Threads’ exhibition in the galleries at ISLAND Arts Centre.
This workshop is the perfect opportunity to slow down, be creative and learn from an expert embroider and member of staff at the Belfast Art College.
If you require any refreshments and/or a lunch, we recommend that you bring them along with you as we do not have facilities beyond vending machines on-site.
