We have a workshop by Creative Lives from 4pm- 6pm with Dance Artist working in Health and the Community, Charmaine McMeekin, Theatre Maker, Stephen Beggs and Seonaid Murray, from Creative Lives who will facilitate the workshop. There will also be an open conversation with a question and answer session.
There will be refreshments available from 5.30-6.30pm.
ARTIST DEVELOPMENT DAY, 'Looking after the Artist/Facilitator' at ISLAND Arts Centre on Wednesday 17th September.
ISLAND Arts Centre would like to welcome artists & facilitators living or practicing in LisburnCastlereaghThe Arts or who wish to make connections with artist, facilitators, educators, youth & health in the area. This day is aimed also for anyone with an interest in the power of creativity & the arts on mental health & well-being. This is an opportunity to share good practice and to connect. The day consists of A Sound Healing Bath, Lunch, Panel Discussion , Workshop and Art Exhibition Opening. Booking is essential for each element of the day, except the Art Exhibition opening. There is no charge.
We are looking forward to re connecting old faces and new to share and recharge.
We finish the evening with the How Does it Feel, Exhibition by Arts Council of Northern Ireland Collection opening 7pm-9pm.
This curated exhibition, drawn from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Collection, seeks to explore the innate need to feel connection - with each other, the environment and our inner worlds. This exhibition brings together artworks intended to both stir our senses and still us through their textures, materials and narratives.
Embracing work in a range of different media, including painting, photography, sculpture, craft, video and installation, we are encouraged to be present, feel challenged and to contemplate what we see.
The Arts Council’s contemporary collection represents over twenty years of visual art by artists, from emerging to established, living and working in Northern Ireland. This showcase includes work by artists who are based in the Lisburn and Castlereagh area.
