Learn about this Japanese technique of layering, stacking and slicing coloured clays to create interesting patterns.

If you know Corinne’s stunning work - she was a winner of this year’s Anna Cheyne Award, and her work can be viewed at ISLAND Arts Centre - you will have seen the vibrant, textural possibilities that can be achieved with this technique. Corrine will have colours ready-mixed for you to explore and work with.

In this small and relaxed workshop (for just five people), participants will be introduced to the basics of making a nerikomi pattern cane to then turn it into small functional dishes. All of the tools and materials will be provided, and no previous experience is necessary. The firing of up to two dishes is included in the price and you will be advised when they are ready to collect.
